Top 5 Sci Fi Action Books That Will be Made into Movies in 2020

Don’t you just hate it when screenwriters make huge changes to novel plots? I know I do. But regardless of my notions towards it, I do understand that it wouldn’t make much sense to screen a predictable movie. But controversies aside, it’s always exciting to read a novel before it launches as a motion picture. So, in honor of that, we decided to put together a list of the best 5 sci fi action books that will be made into movies in 2020. Make sure you check them out before these movies launch.

1. Dune

By Frank Herbert

The adaptation to this novel will be launching in June and it will feature some pretty hot celebrity heavyweights. This includes Zendaya Coleman, Jason Mamoa, Dave Bautista & Rebecca Ferguson, just to mention a few.

The novel takes us to Arrakis, an inhospitable planet dwelling deep within the cosmos. But despite its harsh conditions, this is home to the most valued spice in the universe: the Melange. Not only does this spice increase lifespan, but it also makes interstellar transport possible. Thousands would lay their lives on the line just to have a glimpse at this rare gem. So whoever controls Arrakis controls the universe.

The House of Atreides has established itself as the supreme ruler of the land. However, when treachery befalls the noble House causing it to fall to the House of Harkonnen, the heir to the throne, Paul Atreides, is forced to a life exile. There, the natives come to his aid and help him raise an army to avenge his family name and change the destiny of the universe once and for all.

2. Death on the Nile (Poirot)

By Agatha Christie

If all goes right, this movie will launch in October 2020. Kenneth Branagh will be keeping his role as Poirot in this sequel to Murder on the Orient Express, which did rather well in the box office. Some worthy mentions that will make an appearance in this movie will include Gal Gadot Varsano, Arnie Hammer and Toma Bateman.

As the title suggests, the plot takes us on a cruise along the mighty Nile where tragedy strikes as Linnet Ridgeway, a newlywed heiress, is found lifeless with a bullet hole in her head. It’s up to Hercule Poirot to find the perpetrator in a cruise riddled with secrets, mystery, and conspiracy. He soon comes to see that nothing is ever as it seems on the Nile….

3. The Invisible Man (Penguin Classic)

By HG Wells

This movie is being rebooted again, scheduled to have been released late February. It stars Elizabeth Moth, who will play Cecilia. She receives the relieving news of the death of her violent x-boyfriend. Her life begins to brighten as she rebuilds from the ashes of her past. However, her touch on reality is put to doubt when she begins announcing that her late x-boyfriend is not really dead… That he is, indeed, the invisible man.

The Novel, however, takes a different approach than the movie. It is told through the eyes of Griffin, an outcast covered in bandages, who developed a process that ended up in his becoming the invisible man. He struggles to find the cure to his conundrum and when his old friend Kemp refuses to help him, he unleashes his rage in a whirling carnage of blood and murder.

4. The Devil All the Time

Donald Ray Pollock

Scheduled to release some time this year, this movie will star some familiar faces, including Robert Pattinson, Harley Bennett, and Tom Holland. The story is set in the ’60s after the second world war in a godforsaken town called Knockemstiff, Ohio. The story follows Willard Russel, an anguished veteran struggling to save his wife from cancer. And when all his prayers prove futile, he turns to blood sacrifices. From forest animals to pets and finally to his landlord. But the wife dies anyway, leaving Willard to take his own life, leaving Arvin, his son, to fend for himself.

The story also casts light on Carl and Sandy, a serial killer duo of a couple, lurking on the highways picking up hitchhikers, sexually abusing them and dismembering every last one of them. The story continues over a span of around 15 years and ends with Arvin coming out of the woods and headed to the highway, wanting to move away to anywhere besides Knockemstiff.

5. Without Remorse: A John Clark Novel

Tom Clancy

Soon to be released as a motion picture in September 2020, this movie will star Wakanda’s very own brute, Michael B. Jordan. It will be a story about how a Navy SEAL turned CIA agent seeking vengeance over the untimely death of his girlfriend at the hands of a nasty drug lord.

The novel is set during the Vietnam war as an origin story to one of the recurring characters in the Jack Ryan Series, John Clark. Tom Clancy takes us through how John Kelly crosses lines of morality and justice to become the cold-blooded assassin that he is now. It also makes us understand how and why he changed his name from John Kelly to become John Clark.
